"Atelier auf Zeit" (temporary studio) | special edition
kvgb collective
Back to the Roots 3.0
August 4 – September 8, 2024
On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim is realising a special edition of its decades-long series "Atelier auf Zeit" (temporary studio). With reference to the digital transformation, the exhibition title "Back to the Roots 3.0" refers to the 'next level of development and experience' of all those involved. The Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim is currently undergoing a process of (generational) change and is using the exhibition as an opportunity to engage with this in a creative way.
The exhibition shows the processes and works of the specially founded group "kvgb kollektiv", which consists of artists from the last years of "Atelier auf Zeit" and members. The focus of the works created is on the process, the development and the questioning of art (reception) and the Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim as a place of action. The exhibition and the accompanying programme will be developed in cooperation with the members of the "kvgb kollektiv" and the "Junge Kunstverein" and in appropriate synergy with the "Heimatfreunde Neuenhaus".
The "Atelier auf Zeit" format was first introduced in 1996 by the then artistic director Gudrun Thiessen-Schneider. Since then it has developed into an annual fixture at the Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim for positions with a regional focus, including the extended border region with the Netherlands. At the centre of "Atelier auf Zeit" is the 'open studio' as a publicly accessible space for art production and the space as an experimental area. This gives visitors the opportunity to gain an insight into the artistic process. The artists, in turn, have the opportunity to create something on site that does not have to conform to the other rules of the art world.
